Permanent mission of Ukraine to the United Nations (2023)
November 2023
New York City, NY, U.S.
Ukrainian American female contemporary artist Ola Rondiak, in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations raises awareness for the United Nations International Day For the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Since their conception, Rondiak’s paintings have focused on the resilience and power that lies behind the female image. Ola’s contemporary female portraits are a metaphor for strength and determination and her sculptures symbolize unity and healing. In a recent interview with CNN Ola states how “Ukraine continues to be an anchor for freedom and democracy for all of us”, which is why she continues to share Ukraine’s culture and strength with the world.
Today we continue to witness the brutality that women of all ages are faced with. Rondiak’s intention with her art stands firm in its message of woman empowerment. Her artwork gives a voice to the faith and spirit of Ukrainian women as well as women around the world. From her grandmother’s resilience in the Gulag during WWII, to Ola’s paint brush on the canvas, the generational gift of resilience lies deep within us and cannot be taken away or broken by any aggressor. Women from around the world stand together and empower each other as the power of women can no longer be silenced.
